DURATION: 3 Days & 2 Nights
DAY 01
Depart for Kota Belud Town to Tanak Nabalu Homestay; upon arrival, guests will register and they are welcomed by a cultural performance (NOTE: Only applicable for a group of minimum 10 persons). Guests will be briefed on the homestay project and introduced to the foster family. After a short welcome-drink, guests are taken to visit the village’s prominent feature, which is the ‘Mini Mount Kinabalu’ – this is a natural wonder, where a huge lump of granite replicates the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Then hike to a nearby river to observe the community’s tagal system; guests can feed the fishes and enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool mountain water before savouring a picnic lunch by the river. Return to Tanak Nabalu Homestay to rest and after dinner with the foster family, guests can enjoy a demonstration on rice wine making. Guest can sample the smooth and sweet locally produced rice wine. Stay overnight at Tanak Nabalu Homestay.
DAY 02
Enjoy a traditional breakfast with the foster family and after a short briefing by the assigned guide, gear up for trekking to visit interesting places such as Orchid Trail, Rafflesia Trail, Waterfall and Cave (packed lunch en-route) – guests may also encounter some wildlife while trekking in the rainforest next to Kinabalu National Park. Set up tents at the designated area and guests are free to explore the natural surroundings. Enjoy a basic ‘survival’ dinner and stay overnight in the jungle. Although the night could be cold, rainy and windy, guests will be fascinated by the enchanting sound of ‘jungle orchestra’.
DAY 03
You may be woken up in a misty morning by the calling sounds of many bird species. After a simple breakfast, begin your jungle walk to return to Tanak Nabalu Homestay. Enjoy lunch with the foster family before departing for Kota Kinabalu to catch your return flight.
